2003 Annual Report:
Community Engagement
Ensuring families have access to the food
they need.
- Partnered with the Ohio Department
of Education, schools, community-based organizations, the
American Dairy Association and many other local foundations
and corporations to expand school breakfast and summer meals.
Increased
school breakfast participation around the state by 1,178,000
additional breakfast meals.
- Assisted 31 school districts who implemented
building-based breakfast strategies such as Provision 2,
Breakfast At No Charge, Breakfast In The Classroom, GrabNGo
Breakfast, and Mid-Morning Breakfast.
- Launched a Summer Food Service Program
Awareness Campaign via TV, radio, Internet and print media.
- Increased participation in the 2003
Summer Food Service Program by 17 new sponsors, 106 new
sites and more than 4,500 children for a total of 200,000
meals and snacks provided to children in the summer.
- Received $1,000,000 from State of Ohio
to increase school breakfast participation by 6,000,000
meals.
