2003 Annual Report: Family Child Care

Making sure kids get nutritious food and snacks.

  • Fed more than 9,000 children over 6, 570,000 meals and snacks through an average of 1,472 providers in 65 of Ohio’s 88 counties.
  • Expanded our outreach in Dayton, Cleveland and southern Ohio.
  • Assisted 65 newly immigrated Somali, Latino and Southeast Asian women start child care businesses in their homes.
  • Offered early care and education training and nutrition education focused on menu planning, portion size, and infant/toddler nutrition through 5,152 home monitoring visits, 2,400 technical assistance visits and resource center training contacts.
  • Implemented and expanded a provider "mentor-program" and Child Development Associate training in Cleveland, Canton and Dayton.
  • Partnered with the Ohio Department of Education, Start Smart of Franklin County, Starting Point’s Early Childhood Initiative in Cuyahoga County, the Sisters of Charity of Stark County’s Quality Child Care Initiative.

Our vision is that all Ohio children will thrive because of Children's Hunger Alliance's leadership and dedication to expanding access to food, nutrition education and quality child care. To achieve this, Children's Hunger Alliance must break the cycle of hunger through education, leadership, advocacy and service. That is our mission.

Children’s Hunger Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and holds itself accountable for managing budgets, resources and programs to deliver aid and support to children. Today, 94% of all revenue goes to services.
