2004 Annual Report: Development
Forming partnerships and raising money
to ensure that hungry children always have a voice against
hunger in Ohio.
- Partnered with corporate, foundation,
government and individual donors to provide more than $2.98
million for programs through grants and donations.
Hosted
the 9th Annual Menu of Hope Luncheon featuring keynote speaker
and renowned actor / producer / director Spike Lee; Honorary
Co-Chairs Jack Fisher (Executive Vice President of the Ohio
Farm Bureau Federation, Inc.), Dr. Carl Kohrt (CEO of Battelle),
and Philip Urban (CEO of Grange Insurance); Lead Sponsor
was Panera Bread; Media Sponsors: NBC4 Columbus, SNP Newspapers,
Columbus C.E.O. magazine, and Clear Channel Radio.
- Raised more than $200,000 for the Childrens
Hunger Alliance Endowment Fund, to ensure that Childrens
Hunger Alliance has a solid financial future.
- Expanded existing fundraising campaigns
such as the Menu of the Month program which debuted its
first statewide promotion and A Taste to Remember
silent auction event which was attended by over 300 supporters
of our work.
- Improved communications with the release
of new and enhanced monthly electronic newsletters targeted
to volunteers, advocates, and the general public for awareness
campaigns.
- Increased community involvement due
to expanded volunteer opportunities which generated over
6000 hours of service to our agency through activities such
as Board and Committee service, United Way Community Care
Day, the Wendys Chili Open, two Summer Field Days,
and the debut of a new program: Building Blocks, which improves
the environment children are cared for in afterschool sites
by having a team of volunteers redecorate and stock rooms
at the sites with new educational materials.
