Volunteer-a-Meal

Young adults want to get involved in Feeding hungry minds and bodies^® too, but they don’t always have a lot of money to give. Children’s Hunger Alliance works with food service organizations on college and university campuses to offer Volunteer-a-Meal campaigns.

Students at The Ohio State University participate in the student run Volunteer-a-Meal campaign.

A Volunteer-a-Meal campaign will run for one or more days on the campus, usually in or near the cafeteria(s). Students distribute Children’s Hunger Alliance literature, materials discussing hunger, and information on volunteer opportunities. Since cash is in short hand for college students, students are able to donate their lunch money from their food service account.

These campaigns have been very successful and the students running these campaigns have a great time while participating in a community service project.

M.O.M. was so great in April!
And when M.O.M. is great, that means we're able to feed more hungry kids with nutrious meals. A great big shout-out of "Thanks!" to Pesto Creative Italian Bistro for being our featured Menu of the Month (M.O.M.). And another great big shout-out of "Many Thanks!" to everyone who stopped in at Pesto to savor the wonderful selection of pasta, pizza and salads and remembered to mention Children's Hunger Alliance when paying their bill. Everytime that happened, Pesto donated $1 to the Alliance to help feed hungry kids. It's that easy for any type of restaurant to partner with us to help break the cycle of childhood hunger.

Children’s Hunger Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and holds itself accountable for managing budgets, resources and programs to deliver aid and support to children. Today, 94% of all revenue goes to services.
