CATCH
Physical activity is an essentiall component
when Feeding hungry minds and bodies®.
Physical fitness is vital to preparing the body to be fully
receptive to mental and physical nutrition. To support this
component of our mission,

AmeriCorps Food Folk are practicing
the games and activites that make up the CATCH program
during Food Folk training September 4, 2003. |
Children's Hunger Alliance leverages our
AmeriCorps
volunteers to teach the CATCH program in host site communities
across the state of Ohio.
CATCH is the acronym for Coordinated Approach
To Child Health. A nationally recognized physical fitness
curriculum which encourages all children to participate in
noncompetitive physical fitness activities. As with many of
Afterschool Nutrition & Education's enrichment programs, CATCH can be taught
within the afterschool programs
or a school system's physical education program.
The result: CATCH has an extremely high
participation rate among the youth offered the program and
improves cardiovascular and respiratory fitness in the youth
that participate.
